30.08.2017]Night Free Calling Facility extended to serving employees, due to continuous efforts of BSNLEU.
When Night Free Calling Facility was introduced to the subscribers, BSNLEU was the only union which demanded it’s extension to the employees and retirees. BSNLEU discussed it with the CMD BSNL and wrote letters several times. However, Management introduced the facility only to the retirees. Again BSNLEU continuously pressurised the CMD BSNL and other officers, for extension of the facility to the serving employees. The issue was raised in the 35th meeting of the National Council, held on 11.05.2017. After continuous persuasion, Corporate Office has issued letter today, extending the Night Free Calling Facility to the serving employees. << View letter>>

BSNLEU demands implementation of the DoT order dated 30.11.1992, regarding relaxing qualifying marks for SC/ST employees.
BSNLEU is demanding implementation of the DoT, letter no.22-5/9-1-NCG dated 30.11.1992, as per which the qualifying marks for Scheduled Caste candidates shall be 20% and that of the Scheduled Tribe candidates shall be 15% in each paper. BSNLEU took up this issue in the 35th National Council meeting held on 11.05.2017. Even though the chairperson of the National Council directed the Management Side to examine the implementation of the above stated DoT order, no development has taken place. BSNLEU has once again written to the Management, demanding implementation of the DoT order. Yesterday, com.Swapan Chakraborty, Dy.GS, met Ms.Anima Roy, GM(Rectt.) and demanded immediate implementation of the DoT order.

Wage Revision talks in Coal India Limited – Lessons for BSNL.
Negotiations for wage revision have already started in the Public Sector Company of Coal India Ltd. All the Central Trade Unions, including the BMS, have joined together and are negotiating unitedly with the Management. The unions demand 25% fitment. However, the Management offered to give 10% only. Having seen that all the unions have joined together, Management is now compelled to give an offer for 18% fitment. However, unions have not accepted this offer and are insisting for more fitment. It is also to be noted that the unions in the Coal sector demand 25% fitment for a period of 5 years. As per our information, the unions may achieve more than 20% fitment, for a 5 year period. It is also significant to note that as per the recommendations of the 3rd PRC, maximum fitment is only 15% for a period of 10 years. 3rd PRC recommendations are applicable to Coal India Ltd. also. However, through their unity, the Coal India Limited Unions are going to achieve more than what is recommended by the 3rd PRC, in terms quantum of fitment and periodicity. Unions and associations of BSNL have to learn lessons from the unity of the trade unions of Coal India Ltd

]Massive 3 days’ continuous dharna at New Delhi on 09th, 10th & 11th November, 2017.
The National Convention of workers, organised by the Central Trade Unions and independent federations & unions (including BSNLEU), was held at New Delhi on 08.08.2017. This convention, after elaborate discussion, has decided to organise a massive 3 days’ continuous dharna of workers at New Delhi on 09th, 10th & 11th November, 2017. It is the decision to mobilise lakhs and lakhs of workers in this dharna on all the 3 days, and to show a mammoth opposition to the anti-worker and pro-corporate policies of the Narendra Modi government. The All India Centre meeting of BSNLEU, held yesterday, has decided to massively mobilise the BSNL employees also in this 3 days’ continuous dharna. All the circle unions are requested make note of this and to mobilise maximum number of employees in this dharna, from their respective circles. The circle secretaries should take the initiative to book the journey tickets of the participants in advance and also to give intimation to the CHQ.
